If it’s by faith that we move mountains, and faith (only) comes by hearing the word of Christ…then maybe our own ideas about what our lives ought to be are not really very important;

…then perhaps it would be much more important for us to know what God is wanting to do in my life;

…then it would also be much more important for me to know what God wants in the lives of those around me, than what I think they need;

…then it is more important to know what God is waiting for me to join Him in doing; instead of vice versa;

…then His answers to my prayers would always be yes.

“If you abide in my word and my words abide in you, you will ask what you will, and it will be done for you” (John 15:7, NASB1995).

Jesus said, “I know that you always hear me, Father, because I do the things that are pleasing to you.” “I knew that You always hear Me; but because of the people standing around I said it, so that they may believe that You sent Me”(John 11:42). “And He who sent Me is with Me; He has not left Me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him” (John 8:29).

If God wants to give me the kingdom of God, and what is that unless it is Christ being Himself in us? Therefore, if God wants me to inherit Christ’s life in myself, then for me to seek these things is precisely what the Lord is asking of me.

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. “For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened” (Matthew 7:7-8).

Moreover, since it is impossible for God to lie (Hebrews 6:18), it is also impossible for Him not to give us all things of the kingdom if we ask based on these two things:

  1. My hope in receiving is relying solely on Christ’s sacrifice for me and not on anything I am or have ever done (or could do);
  2. I am seeking only what He wants to give me – and you can be sure that this is the most amazing, Christ-filled life, far beyond anything anyone could ever imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
